It's one of the busiest times of the year on the roads. It's back to school time!
Here our top 5 tips for making sure back to school season is safe:
Slow down in the school zones. No matter how irresistible the urge is to creep your speedometer up to 60 km per hour, pump your brakes. The speed limit in a school zone is 40km/h. If you go faster, you’re not only in danger of hitting a child, but you could also get a ticket.
Watch out for high school drivers. When driving near high school campuses, remember your defensive driving techniques. Many of the drivers haven’t let the laminate completely dry on their new licenses before hitting the road. When it comes to driving, you’re the big man or woman on campus. Be careful and don’t let your guard down in front of the rookies.
So when the kids are getting ready to tackle the books again, it may not hurt to take a slight refresher course on back-to-school driving. The commute during the school year is not as simple as it looks. You can learn more about our refresher course here.
